Introducing
MuttiWorld!
How
did the name MuttiWorld come about? Back in the days when my daughter
was going to high school, she hung out with a nice group of friends.
They all took foreign languaages and they all pretty much, hung
out here in my living room for a few years. My daughter had started
off with French in junior high school, and added German in High
School. She took to calling me Mutti (mom in German). Her friends
all starting calling me mutti too. And I of course, live in Mutti's
World! Times have changed. The daughter is out of college. I don't
see her friends much. And I'm not called mutti anymore, except
by one of her friends. But my website that I made up so long ago,
is still MuttiWorld.
I
started out building websites. My first one being Bishop Computer,
my husband's company. This was back in 1996 when all we worked
on were mainframes. I bought PhotoShop 2.1 and then upgraded to
2.5. This was when the program was on 3.5' disks! Talk about a
lot of disks!! It got easier through the years to upgrade when
they came out with CD's. I designed brochures & flyers. No
such thing as search engine marketing. You added your site to
Yahoo and Altavista... that was pretty much it. Times have changed.
Started working on other company sites... worked on flyers, brochures,
tradeshow banners & giveaways.
Nowadays,
I don't do much in designing websites. I update a few clients
websites with new products. But mostly, I do SEM (search engine
marketing) and SEO (search engine optimization). If a search engine
doesn't know who you are, how will anyone else know how to find
you? It's really interesting to see what works one day, and doesn't
the next. Always fun to find how to get around the sudden drop
in search engine results.
One
thing is for sure. You need to be committed to working constantly
on search engine optimization and search engine marketing. It
needs to be worked on every day, if you can. So Twitter, Facebook,
Blog to keep your name, your product, your service out there.
All the while keeping up with optimizing your site with keywords,
but also making sure that your content complies with what search
engines will index. An ever changing challenge!
