Introducing Water Works, Inc.

Located out in McHenry, IL, Water Works, Inc. sells & installs underground sprinkler systems, landscape lighting and now their new product line, a green alternative water softener. They are a family run company that has been in business since 1986.

I originally became aquainted with Water Works years ago, when my husband's company, Bishop Computer, was installing Cbeyond circuits for a local Avaya Business Partner who had a partnership with Cbeyond, but had no installers. Our guy went there to do the cutover of the service. I got a call from our guy saying the customer was in a panic. Their website was down. The sales guy had never thought about the website being affected. So I had to gather all the passwords & login info and move the site over. Not an easy task as they had an SSL site for their online credit card payments. Their forms weren't working either. I tried setting up formmail, the standard forms program, but it wasn't working at the Cbeyond site. I had to setup forms using Cbeyond's form program, which had 2 steps to complete for each form page (just about every page on the Water Works site has a form), instead of the easy one-step I was used to. Whoever built the site originally, made it in Cold Fusion... which didn't need to be. I converted it all to plain html. But finally got everything under control and working. What fun that was!

Water Works called directly from then on, and asked if I could update their website with new products, and also do SEO - search engine optimization. Worked for a couple years just doing updates & SEO, when I get another panic call about their website being down. They moved to Comcast service without mentioning it to me. They were promised that their site could be moved to the Comcast servers. Once again, I sprang into action (makes me sound like a super hero). I called Comcast with all the pertinent passwords, account numbers, etc... Comcast had a one page website available, with no SSL, nice! So I gave Water Works the alternative. Let's get them set up at Network Solutions, who provide the BEST 24/7 customer service, if you need it. Water Works approved, and that's where they are at, hopefully to stay. Now they can change their phone service at anytime, and not affect their website.

Last year, or was it the year before, I was asked to make their logo on their homepage change. They wanted the Water Works raindrop man to hold a waving flag with their new motto. Another fun time! These people always keep me on my toes!
